This vintage 1994 Birmingham 9ct yellow gold fob spinner is one of those pieces that feels like it has a story behind it.

Fob spinners were originally worn with Victorian and Edwardian pocket watches, particularly in the late 1800s and early 1900s. They were traditionally attached to a watch chain and served as a decorative fob, often incorporating meaningful stones, crests or personal details.

Over time, these beautiful little pieces found a new life as pendants worn on a chain — and honestly, I can see why. The compact size, beautiful goldwork and the fact that the centre actually spins make them such a wonderful piece of wearable history.

This one features a three-stone rotating centre, with:
🖤 Onyx
❤️ Carnelian
💚 Bloodstone

Three stones also give this style a lovely symbolism — often interpreted as past, present and future, or love, friendship and loyalty. And there’s something strangely satisfying about being able to turn the little centre between your fingers. Almost meditative.

This one dates to 1994 and carries the hallmarks to prove its Birmingham origin.

A beautiful little piece of English jewellery heritage that can now be worn in a completely modern way — on a chain as a pendant, or added to a charm collection.
